Welcome to the World of Resource Therapy
If you are a Clinical Therapist like myself or someone interested in finding out more about yourself and your inner resources, this therapy may be for you.

'Resource Therapy' is a new advanced form of an older therapy called 'Ego State Therapy' which is well founded, easy to understand and can provide life changing positive results.

My name is Dr Peter Richard-Herbert. I am the National President of The Australasian Ego State Therapy Association (AESTA) and on the board of Ego State Therapy International (ESTI) an organisation that is represented in over 20 countries worldwide.

I have been working in conjunction with Professor Gordon Emmerson over the past ten years as a friend and co-trainer in Ego State Therapy and now in Resource Therapy.  I am accredited by Resource Therapy International (RTI), an organisation founded in 2014 by Professor Gordon Emmerson.  Resource Therapy is grounded in the theory of Ego State Therapy. See more about this history on the 'About' page. The drop down tab, 'Compare EST with RT' gives an overview of the differences between Ego State Therapy and Resource Therapy.

Resource Therapy (Advanced Ego State Therapy)
Resource Therapy is based on the concept that our personality is made up of many parts. These parts are called our Resources and we each have many Resources available to us. Just like the many trees standing together make up a forest, we all have parts of ourselves that make up our whole personality.
Personality parts are resources that work for us or against us and when a Resource becomes 'pathological' the result is distress. Some personality parts carry negative emotions (Vaded States), some carry out unwanted behaviour (Retro States), and some are conflicted with other states (Conflicted States). The precise condition of each pathological state can be diagnosed to understand the dynamic role it has assumed within the personality.
Resource Therapy enables interventions that directly address the personality part in need of change, quickly, powerfully and effectively. Issues such as, but not limited to, OCD, depression, addictions, eating disorders and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) can be treated and resolved in a fraction of the time spent using some other therapies, including CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy). Resolving the pathology held by a Resource State alleviates the causes of psychological distress, and frees Personality Resources to resume positive functions.
Therefore there is likely a part of you that can be used as a 'resource' to back you up in times needed. To come to the front and 'look after' you and your other states. This therapy is a way of identifying those hidden resources and eventually help the entire self where before it seemed impossible.
